After the initial installation of the app and entering the string list interface, data synchronization is required before you can proceed with translation actions.

If your store adds new content later, synchronization is also necessary to display the latest content in Locales.ai.

Click the “Sync with Shopify” button, select the range of translatable data you wish to synchronize, click “Confirm/Continue” and wait for the synchronization to complete.

The process can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, depending on the range of content and the volume of data being synchronized.

This action fetches all the original texts for all target languages under the corresponding resource type. If you have opted to download strings and translations, then the translations in the store will also be downloaded.

Important Notes

If your store has a large number of products or blog posts, or if you have added many third-party widgets to your theme, downloading your store data to Locales.ai could take a significant amount of time.

Locales.ai recommends downloading a small amount of content first to experience the product, then finding a suitable time to download all store data.

In subsequent uses, you only need to download content that has been updated in your store.

Locales.ai does not currently support manual editing, adding, or deleting strings. If you need to modify/add/delete content, please go to the corresponding location in the store admin.

If a string was previously synced to Locales.ai but was later deleted in your store, and a sync operation is performed again, then the string stored in Locales.ai will also be deleted.

If a string in your store does not have a translation but you have translated it in Locales.ai, the “Download Store Data” action will not delete the translation in Locales.ai.

If a string in your store has translations both in the store and in Locales.ai, the system will compare the timestamps of the two translations and automatically select the translation that is closer to the current time to be saved in Locales.ai.
